Q-par Wins Contract Helping To Build Revolutionary Particle Accelerator

Media_httpenewsqparco_hmvqh

Q-par Angus Ltd is pleased to announce that we are participating in the new UK ns-FFAG accelerator project (EMMA) by designing and manufacturing an elaborate waveguide distribution & power splitting system to drive the RF/electron accelerator cavities. The limited space afforded to EMMA provides a number of particular challenges in the waveguide distribution design.

The CONFORM project at the Daresbury Laboratories in Cheshire, UK is currently working on a 20 MeV electron accelerator, EMMA, to test the principle. It is expected that this research will drive next generation proton and carbon ion beam treatment of cancers and in many other fields from archaeology to zoology. The project is of a similar nature to the Large Hadron Collider project at CERN in Switzerland, though much smaller in scale and far more wide ranging in application.

Q-par Angus's involvement concerns the design, development and manufacture of the large and complex waveguide system including hybrids, phase shifters and high power transitions used in the L band Accelerators for the EMMA project. The very compact, cost effective solution was designed to meet the tight physical constraints of the particle accelerator.

New Wide Band, High Power 1 - 8 GHz EMC Horn Antennas

Media_httpenewsqparco_dbhte

High power rating and wide bandwidth are not usually compatible in horn antennas. We have developed a wide band horn antenna to overcome these limitations, providing a product that will find many uses in high power RF and microwave environments such as EMC testing in reverberation chambers.

Launched at the EMCUK 2008 show, our new WBH1-8#10HP high power horn antenna is specifically designed for the EMC market. A wide variety of high power input connectors are available including type N, 7:16 DIN and  7/8 IEC.
